3331 TRANS, the creative team at 3331 Arts Chiyoda, will hold the solo exhibition "difference" by Sugimoto Katsuya at NOHGA HOTEL UENO TOKYO from August 2 (Tue.) to November 29 (Tue.), 2022.
This exhibition comprises four artwork series: the "Nothing" series, which intentionally reproduces titles and dates that are usually noted on the back of artwork; the "Palindrome" series, where motifs are the same read forwards or backwards; the "Idolization" series, which presents an actual oil paint palette paired with a painting imitating it precisely; and the "Mirror" series, presenting collage alongside a faithful reproduction in oil paint. We hope that visitors receive a flash of inspiration and a quiet moment to contemplate differences in things beyond one's sight through the range of the artist's artwork and experimental moments that emerge as one forms an impression of the artwork.
