We are Third Year students of Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA) majoring in Oil Painting, and each one of us--fifty-five in total--are working daily in search of an individual means of expression.
This exhibition is held annually at 3331 Arts Chiyoda as a summation of the studies of the Third Year undergraduate students of Oil Painting at TUA. Each year, a theme is set for the exhibition, and this year we selected the title "οὐ" (the negative particle in ancient Greek) in the hope of creating a space where "existence" and "nothingness" intersect, and to sever the boundaries that try to fit us into exisiting moulds.
This is the first time for all of us to create a single exhibition together, and it is a great opportunity for us to go out into the world and into our own futures. We, as well as all of you, are still in a situation where we cannot relax, but all of us in the Third Year of Oil Painting are sincerely looking forward to seeing you at the exhibition.
