Gallery OUT of PLACE TOKIO will move out of room 207 on 30 April 2021.

On the occasion of the closing of TOKIO, we are pleased to present our last exhibition "A bientôt Ja, Matane ".

In this exhibition we present eight artists who have been involved with TOKIO and who will continue to work in Nara in the future.

Hogalee: Hogalee's work is based on the theme of "Tokyo Girl", straddling the worlds of contemporary art and comics. In recent years, he has been creating huge wall paintings in public spaces using masking tape.

Satoshi Uchiyama: Satoshi Uchiyama's work is based on the repetition and accumulation of small daily actions, such as rolling paper tape or pouring paint onto an air mat, which transform into art.

Hanako Itsukage: After moving to Europe on her own, Hanako Itsukage has been based in Germany for many years, and has been creating abstract paintings with a sense of isolation and transparency.

Koju Takahashi: Born and raised in Sakurai, Nara, Takahashi works stoically with plaster and pigments to create abstract paintings with delicate textures and bold compositions.

Fuyuji: Based in the Kansai area, Fuyuji creates paintings that seem to flow with music, making free use of the universal forms and vivid colours of the natural world.

Masato Akai: Born and raised in the sacred mountain of Omine (Nara Pref.), Akai's sculptures are made from Yoshino cedar and driftwood from the Yoshino River.

Patrick Taberna: is a French photographer who has been photographing his familiy and children for 20 years. The essence of his work would be the love for small and pure things.

Bernard Plossu: is a famous French photographer who captures on photographic paper the expressions of people and landscapes he encounters during his travels, with a somewhat languid and unique texture.

Gallery OUT of PLACE will close its Tokyo branch after this exhibition.
We will no longer have a branch in Tokyo, but will operate from our head office in Nara.

The Nara's office is currently closed for a long period of time.
We are planning to resume our business around September this year.
(In the meantime, we will still be able to communicate with you via email and social networking sites, and we will continue our publicity activities and preparations for external exhibitions and fairs at the Nara head office.)

We would like to thank all of you who have been coming to our exhibitions since our Hiroo days, who have purchased our works, and who have interacted with our artists.
Thank you very much for your support over the years. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you very much.
We hope to see you again soon.
