Satellite Photo Museum
From its birth, photography has inherited the traditions of painting. The 4 cornered frame which sets out its division upon the world is a device for producing order within itself. The order we see in nature becomes a landscape, the order we find in the human image becomes a portrait and the pursuit of order within society is expressed as a group photo.
The photographs of Kazuomi Furuya in their own original way take this history and open it up to the future. His family photos are contained within a landscape, but the perspective taken here is not the landscape of space but the environment of information. In the era of google earth, when all places become equal, a new order appears. And that which lies at the centre of this order is a child gazing into the future. The photo museum of the satellite era is now open.
