Artist: Megan Alice Clune (Australia)
"a living room" is a sound installation that seeks to expand or de-center the way we listen. The work takes leave of Eric Satie's 1917 work "Furniture Music", a suite of short pieces designed to be heard in various areas of the house. The work will be realised by transforming a gallery space into a standard living room. The objects in the room would imitate or literally be the objects found in a living room - a coffee table, armchair, indoor plant. For the 3331 iteration, bone conductor transducers are placed in the headrest of a armchair, enabling visitors to hear the music when they rest their head on the chair. The exhibition will culminate in a performance and artist talk on January 10th (Fri).
