"Tyva Kyzy (Daughters of Tuva)" is the first and only female group that performs all styles of Tuvan throat-singing called "Khoomei". In the past, Tuvan tradition typically prohibited women from performing Khoomei. However, Choduraa Tumat and 5 other partners formed Tyva Kyzy in 1998 to perform this ancient art in their own unique feminine style, and thus changed the history of throat-singing and created a new future for the next-generation female throat-singers not only in Tuva but also worldwide. Tyva Kyzy have received international acclaim for their original and distinctive female khoomei, which combines their tender singing voices with traditional musical instruments to make a beautiful harmony.
