■Event contents:
In collaboration with residency program AIR 3331 (http://residence.3331.jp/en/) and support from the Agency of Cultural Affairs Government of Japan, Japan's only non-governmental online source for Japan's artist-in-residence Move Arts Japan will be made bilingual to promote global accessibility. Additionally, four artists from abroad will be invited to undergo the "tourism model" of residency proposed by Move Arts Japan.
Through this event, invitation artists Thelma Vilas Boas, Alex Desebrock, Thuy-Tien Nguyen, and Mohamad Haryo Hutomo will present the results of their projects, carried out in multiple localities across Japan, as a symposium held in tandem with Japan's residency organizers and artists, in consideration of the benefits and possibilities of travelling Japan through Move Arts Japan and critical topics for the future of artist-in-residence operations, both in Japan and abroad.
Contributing speakers include AIR specialist Mami Odai of "Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio", internationally active painter Hiroshi Sugito, Junpei Mori of the rapidly growing AIR of the Kanto area "PARADISE AIR", and painter Yoshinori Takakura of the artist-run residence "Haishakkei". Further, artist and supervising director of independent arts center 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Masato Nakamura will join as speaker. Surely this is a discussion not to be missed!
Additionally, a simultaneous exhibition will be held inside 3331 Arts Chiyoda (space B105 and B108) as an opportunity to directly interact with the artists and their work, developed in immersive community settings in Akita, Fukuoka and Sapporo.
