Australian artist Sorcha Mackenzie presents the results of her one month residency with 3331 Arts Chiyoda's "AIR 3331".
Primarily using ink and intaglio, Sorcha Mackenzie captures fragments of her one-month residency in Tokyo, exploring Kanda and surrounding areas. The smaller of these "fragments" become a component of understanding, often coalesced and displaced within one another to form large, surreal landscapes. These mysterious scenes often function as "cabinets of curiosity"; a visual culmination of the artist's experiences. Dimensions seem to ooze over into one another, becoming something outlandish yet familiar.
