Cumulating her residency with the 3331 Open Residence Program (http://residence.3331.jp/), Susan Bui (Australia) will be presenting a series of sculptural and photographic works. By drawing from the game 'Kingyo Sukui', this exhibition explores how a cohesive yet fluid self can exist where eternal influences are in a constant state of flux.
Artist statement:
Often I find myself traversing through daily life getting lost, blending into the crowd and allowing the motions of life sweep through and around me. There is a comfort within those repeated movements, the familiar within the isolating walls of the city that give you a sense of purpose. Although, I find that every now and again this comfort obscures itself and brings about anxiety. How does one identify oneself as independent of relations to others, materials and the built environment?
