Takashi MASAKI was born in Hyogo, Japan. He had completed his MFA in Musashino Art University, 1998. In the following year, he held his first solo exhibition at Nabis Gallery, Tokyo. Masaki attended Saison Art Program Art-ing Tokyo in 2001. Two years later, he had a solo exhibition, "From DRIVING to DIVING" at Gallery Jin, which became his last exhibition before he died.
On November 23rd, 2004, he died at the age 33 in his house/studio, located in Saitama, Japan. His posthumous works were shown in "Requiem" exhibition at Gallery Jin. Since then, his artwork has been displayed in various exhibitions: "Enjoyable House " Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art (2006), "Chaosmos '07: In the Face of Sadness" Sakura City Museum of Art (2007), "Dream of Cyborg" Art Trace Gallery (2009), "Garden of Painting: Japanese Art of the 00s" The National Museum of Art (2010), "Takashi MASAKI Exhibition" Musashino Art University gFAL (2010), "A Cross Section of Contemporary Painting: Echo and Reverberation" Museum of Modern Art, Saitama (2010),"Color-remix: including Jakuchu and Contemporary Art" Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art (2012), MOT Collection "From Me To You: Close but Distant Journeys" Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (2013), etc.
It has been 10 years since his death. His last 11 drawings will be displayed at this show.
