CfSHE ANNEX Gallery presents a solo exhibition of a Canadian artist, Brenda Petays. Brenda teaches visual arts at Camosun College in British Columbia. Working in the fields of drawing, photography and performance, she explores identity and memory in subjective, social and political environments. In April 2014, Brenda participated in the MI-LAB residency at Fujikawagucjiko town and challenged the use of mokuhanga as a new medium. Brenda was one of exhibiting artists at Interactions: A Canada-Japan Print Exhibition held at Embassy of Canada Prince Takamado Gallery in August 2014 in conjunction with the 2nd International Mokuhanga Conference, in which her 8 mokuhanga prints were exhibited. The works reveal the fusion of Brenda's unique expression with the technique that she matured during the residency and has received a high reputation. This exhibition mainly features the works presented at the embassy exhibition as well as showcases photographs of her performance art made at lake Kawaguchi. All of her work is highly enjoyable.
