The "Art Duct" seperating the Food Lab & Izakaya Lab from the smoking room on the first floor not only provides a more comfortable breathing environment but also doubles as an exhibition space. Rather than iron and stainless steel, specially processed glass envelops the space within which artworks can be installed and enjoyed by smokers and non-smokers alike. The space specializes in commissioned works for extended periods, presenting a diverse range of artists. The current 7th exhibition features "Rainbow Luminaires" by Takeo Minato.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts (Department of Architecture), Minato spent time at a design company. With "try everything and anything" as his motto, he currently presides over Minato Takeo Jimusho.

While being a licensed architect, Minato's creative activities extend beyond the title of "architect" or "designer" as he not only designs residences and shops but also constructs every part of the interior and exterior himself, going so far as to collect electronic components and suspend them as lighting.

Using LED lighting and light distributing mediums like CD fragments, rainbow beams are reflected onto the ceiling. While the multiple colors are beautiful, the action of facing up at the light can evoke a sensation that one's feelings are moving in a positive direction.

While worrying about the future as a student, Minato was touched after witnessing a large, round rainbow from his home's balcony. Even after it had faded away, his feelings became calm and refreshed. The hardships within his heart had miraculously disappeared, and he felt somewhat what it meant to make something.

Later, after falling into a slump from overwork and sleeping at home, he suddenly recalled that rainbow. Would not seeing a rainbow turn things around? This motivated Minato to make a rainbow that could be seen anytime in the home, instead of only appearing on occasion. Rainbow luminaries were produced with the help of his friends and after observing the light in his room, Minato regained his footing.

From then on, the rainbows were made for others' sakes as well.

When you are tired, Minato hopes that by looking at the rainbow luminaires your feelings will be uplifted and that you will feel peaceful and refreshed. May this world overflow with compassion in sublimely beautiful ways. Aal Izz Well.
