Sunday 8 July, 2pm

3331 Arts CYD welcomes you to a closing event to mark the conclusion of the residency of Australian artist, Rob Ball. For the past month, Rob has been working from the basement of 3331 Arts CYD on a mould-making production project, casting 'unburnables' (non-recyclable waste, including outmoded electronic technology. After making moulds, and casting prototypes, Rob took the sculptural objects to public spaces throughout Akihabara where he photographed them amongst retail outlets and consumers of electronic goods.
The project aims to prompt inquiry into the divergent relationship of old and new, the desired and the abandoned, while also investigating phenomenological considerations raised by assembling the cast objects in public space.
During the Closing Reception Rob will present an installation of sculptural prototypes, which will be recast for an exhibition at c3 Contemporary Artspace in Melbourne Australia in November 2012.
Light refreshments will be provided.
